The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) inaugurated a school construction project in Mura Al Zaid area and the nomadic regions located on the outskirts of Ataq district in Shabwah Governorate.
This initiative is part of the humanitarian interventions provided by the UAE through its humanitarian arm in Yemen, ERC, to support the education sector in Shabwah Governorate. The project benefits over 120 male and female students from all nomadic areas.
Majid bin Sari’, the Director of the ERC Team in Shabwah, highlighted that the project consists of building three classrooms with accompanying facilities, in addition to a solar-powered system.
Salem Mohammed Hanash, the Director-General of the Education Office in Shabwah, praised the humanitarian role played by the United Arab Emirates. He expressed appreciation for all those working in the educational sector for their continuous support.
Hanash emphasized the need to overcome all difficulties and provide all available resources to the Education Office in the Governorate to operate this educational project, including providing teaching staff and textbooks, as well as monitoring and evaluating the educational process within this project. It is worth mentioning that the residents of Mura Al Zaid area and the surrounding nomadic regions face challenges of education discontinuity and dropout at an early age due to the lack of a suitable educational environment to continue their education.
