Funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and implementation by the Takaful Humanitarian Association, the Governor of Lahj Governorate, Major General Ahmed Turki, inaugurated the operation of a solar energy system in the areas of water, education, health, and security in the refugee camp and its host community in the Kharez area of Al Madaribah Wa Al Arah District.

The system, consisting of 72 panels, contributes to pumping 55,000 liters of clean drinking water per hour to the hospital, school, and police center.

Governor Turki praised the humanitarian interventions and training programs of the UNHCR in the camp, which aim to promote social integration between the resident refugees and the host community.

The Resident Representative of the UNHCR in Yemen emphasized the commitment to work continuously to improve the humanitarian conditions for refugees in the camp and the surrounding local community, providing them with sustainable modern projects after transitioning from the temporary emergency phase.

It is worth mentioning that the UNHCR has implemented a new working mechanism to hand over the implementation of all its projects to a single organized partner, the Human Access Association, under the supervision of the local authority and state facilities in the governorate.
