  • UN Central Emergency Response Fund supports UNICEF to help vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

On Thursday, the United Nations Emergency Response Fund (UNEF) has released US$7 million to UNICEF to provide assistance to vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity in Hajjah, Hodeidah, and Taiz.

The support mainly aims to provide immediate and coordinated multisectoral assistance to vulnerable communities including children and persons with disabilities in particular, with timely and high-impact interventions in health, nutrition, water and sanitation, and child protection.

Over six months, this assistance will target 287,000 vulnerable people, including over 170,000 children and more than 30,000 persons with disability, in the targeted governorates within the framework of the humanitarian response activities implemented by UNICEF in Yemen.

The humanitarian crisis in Yemen has been classified as one of the worst in the world. Due to the continuation of the conflict for the seventh year in a row, the state economy and most sectors have deteriorated, which have further exacerbated the human suffering in Yemen.
