The World Bank announced that it will grant additional financial assistance in the amount of $ 207,000,000 to finance Food Insecurity Combating Program in Yemen caused by the ongoing conflict.

The regional director of the bank said that the funding will be disbursed in three phases. It aims to reduce the risk of delays in meeting needs in areas with high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition. She indicated that this funding reflects the World Bank’s commitment to improving the lives of Yemenis suffering from many crises, conflicts, food crises, and climate emergencies.

The World Bank has also confirmed that Food Insecurity Combating Program targets 1,420,000 Yemeni families. UN estimates stated that the need is great and urgent, especially that there are 21,600,000 people awaiting food aid in 2023. 19,000,000 of them face great difficulties in obtaining food.
