“Estijabah Foundation for Relief and Development, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), has successfully carried out a training program focused on enhancing the capacity of water user associations in Wadi Hajar, located in the Yaba’ath district of Hadhramout governorate.
At the training program, Eng. Awad bin Hamel, project coordinator at Estijabah Foundation for Relief and Development, provided an overview of the selection criteria for beneficiaries participating in the cash-for-work program, as well as the criteria for choosing water facilities. The course highlighted various administrative and financial matters, including dispute resolution methods, particularly those related to water, gender issues, the empowerment of women in agricultural activities, and the equitable allocation of resources, particularly those linked to agriculture.
Participating individuals had the opportunity to acquire knowledge about the cash-for-work mechanism and the proper procedures for registering beneficiaries, following the standards established by the FAO. This initiative falls within the framework of the Sustainable Watershed Management Project, which aims to support governance, resilience, and agriculture in the region, with funding provided by the Dutch government.”
