Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

Funded by the World Bank and under the supervision of UNICEF, the first phase of restoration work for 59 schools in the city of Al-Mukalla has been implemented.
This comes as part of the Education Recovery and Learning Project, which took place from January to June 2024. During the inauguration, Amin Abdullah Barziq, the Deputy Governor for Technical Affairs in Hadhramout, praised the level of partnerships established by the Education Office in Hadhramout Coast with local and international organizations and institutions.
Amin Abdullah Ba’abbaad, the Director of the Ministry of Education Office in Hadhramout Coast, noted that these projects address the needs of the educational sector and help overcome some of the obstacles it faces every academic year.
Eng. Abdulrahim Houri, the Director of the Public Works Project in Hadhramout, Mahra, and Socotra Archipelago, explained that the total cost of the restoration work amounted to $708,000, at an average of $12,000 per school. He further elaborated that the restoration includes repairing classroom walls, floors, school stairs, doors, and windows, as well as refurbishing them. Additionally, it involves repairing water and sanitation facilities, constructing new restrooms, and repainting the classrooms.
