In Sunday, October 23, 2022, a project to rehabilitate eight sewage plants was inaugurated in Mukalla, Hadhramout Governorate, at a total cost of $1.8 million, funded by UNICEF.

The project includes the rehabilitation of buildings and the provision of pumps, generators, and spare parts for eight stations, four of which are in Mukalla, and another in Fuwah. All stations converge at the main pumping station in the construction site and then at the main treatment station in the Embekha area.

UNICEF Representative to Yemen, Philippe Duamelle, praised the stable environment in Hadhramout and the outstanding partnership with local authorities, which resulted in the implementation of successful projects. He also stressed the organization’s endeavor to mobilize resources to implement sustainable development programs and projects in the governorate’s infrastructure.
