  • The World Health Organization announces the installation of oxygen stations in 4 governorates

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

The World Health Organization announced the installation of oxygen stations in major hospitals in four governorates. The organization said it is installing life-saving oxygen stations in five major hospitals in Hadramawt, Shabwa, Ma’rib and Abyan. According to the organization, more than 40,000 seriously ill patients will benefit from these five stations.

On May 31, the World Health Organization announced that it will, in partnership with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, install life-saving oxygen stations in five main hospitals located in the priority southern governorates: Hadramawt, Shabwa, Ma’rib and Abyan.

It emphasized that once installed, the five oxygen stations would help meet the growing shortage of sustainable and affordable oxygen supply in Yemen, linked to the country’s ongoing economic and health crisis. This will be another step towards ensuring the provision of sustainable healthcare services.

It added that the five oxygen stations will play a critical role in hospitals during the management of anesthesia and the treatment of critical medical emergencies including severe cases of COVID-19, shock and cardiac arrest. All require an uninterrupted supply of oxygen to prevent permanent organ damage or even death of patients.
