  • KSrelief Signs Joint Cooperation Agreement to Ensure Safe, Comprehensive Educational Environment in Yemen

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center signed a joint cooperation agreement with a civil society organization. The agreement aims to ensure access to a safe and comprehensive educational environment in a number of Yemeni governorates. It is a part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s grant to support the humanitarian response plan in Yemen, which benefits more than 16,000 students and educational staff.

Under the agreement, 10 schools will be expanded, 28 classrooms will be equipped, a number of educational tools will be provided, and psychological support programs for students will be offered. It also includes the implementation of a training course for 40 trainees of school activities supervisors and social workers in the targeted schools in the most affected areas in nine districts of the governorates of Abyan, Lahj, Al-Dhale’a and Taiz.

The Director of the Community Support Department, Dr. Hana Emran, pointed out that the goal of the agreement is to provide a suitable educational environment for 20 schools. She stressed that this project will increase students’ enrolment and attendance, and protect them from violence resulting from their dropping out of schools.

The project was part of the humanitarian interventions provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the education sector in Yemen and improve its environmental efficiency within the framework of a system of educational projects.
