  • Funded By WFP, Food Aid Alleviate The Suffering Of 65,000 Families In Lahj And Taiz

Humanitarian Access, in partnership with World Food Programme (WFP), was able to provide food aid that contributed to improving the living conditions of 65,567 families in Taiz and Lahj, who benefited monthly from the project from January to October 2021.

The project included three sub-projects, the first was the cash assistance program for families “CBT”, which targeted the districts of (Al-Hidd, Al-Madariba, Al Maqatira, Al-Maflahi, Yafa’, Labous), and (Yahar, Tor Al Baha, Al Malah, Halmeen, Habeel Jabr) in Lahj and number of beneficiaries is about 43,443 needy and displaced families.

The second project within the general food aid is food vouchers project, which targeted Al Qabaitah district in Lahj governorate, benefiting 15,130 families.

The project aims to ensure food security for families with no income or to female or child -headed households, by distributing food vouchers, under which a monthly food basket is provided since the beginning of the year until now.

The third project is general food aid, which targeted Sala district in Taiz governorate, benefiting 6,994 families, and aims to provide relief to the poorest families affected by the conflict, by distributing monthly food baskets.

The project manager, Mr. Abdullah Moqbel, said that the projects implemented by HUMAN ACCESS in the targeted areas during the defined time period prevented a large number of families from falling into the throes of famine that threatens the country.

Moqbel stressed the importance of increasing funding for humanitarian response to provide various life-saving services and to reach more Yemeni families who are unable to receive humanitarian support and face major challenges in getting food.
