  • UNICEF and Al Nouri Charity Association Forge Partnership to Boost Education in Yemen

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Kuwait’s Al Nouri Charity Association have signed an agreement at the United Nations offices in Mishref to support education in Yemen with a value of $422,000. The initiative aims to enhance safe access to comprehensive education for school-age children affected by conflict by rehabilitating a number of schools, building the capacity of teachers and educational staff, and providing educational supplies.
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), UNICEF’s representative in the Gulf States, Taib Adam, emphasized UNICEF’s commitment to maintaining distinguished partnerships with Al Nouri Charity Association, recognizing it as one of the leading charitable and humanitarian institutions in the Gulf and Middle East.
Additionally, Jamal Al Nouri, Chairman of the Board of Al Nouri Charity Association, highlighted the educational situation in Yemen, noting that the conflict has destroyed approximately 2,900 schools and educational facilities. This has resulted in around 28% of Yemeni children dropping out of school, alongside a decline in teachers’ ability to use modern teaching methods and address students’ needs.
Al Nouri further explained that the agreement with UNICEF aims to rehabilitate three primary schools accommodating around 2,000 students, build the capacity of around 100 school principals and teachers to deliver an official curriculum for primary education, evaluate the impact of training courses, as well as purchase and distribute essential educational supplies.
