In conjunction with the International 16 Days Campaign to Eliminate Violence against Women, the National Committee for Women, Lahj branch, organized an awareness workshop on the dangers of gender-based violence yesterday. The workshop was held in cooperation with the United Nations Women’s Agency.

The workshop included different speeches by many different segments of society. All of them aimed at reducing the phenomenon of violence against women and rejecting this extraneous phenomenon in society.

The workshop included a number of axes, including: gender-based violence, its types and causes, women’s right to public and decision-making positions, and reviewing some solutions to violence issues.

This workshop is the first for the National Committee in Lahj Governorate. The committee follows up on women’s issues and advocacy in preparation for other workshops. It also seeks to establish partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations and international organizations to enhance the role of women in the governorate.
