  • Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries Meets with IFAD Regional Director for Near East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Europe Department

The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Abdullah Al-Socotri, recently met with Dina Saleh, Regional Director of the Near East, North Africa, Central Asia, and Europe Department at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) headquarters in Rome to discuss bilateral relations between Yemen and IFAD.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the need for support in the agricultural and fisheries sector, particularly for the Rural Livelihoods Development Project. This project aims to enhance the agricultural sector’s role in the country’s overall development and achieve food security.
Minister Al-Socotri emphasized that such projects are a priority in the government’s program and agenda. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts made in Yemen’s agricultural sector to gradually recover and develop.
IFAD is currently implementing the first part of the “Development of Rural Livelihoods” project with a budget of $5.300.000. The organization is also making significant efforts to provide financing for the project, with funding expected to increase to $40.600.000 from various sources.
