The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that food security in Yemen improved slightly in October compared to September.
The stability of basic food prices, increased food availability, and improved income opportunities after the main seasonal harvest in most crop-producing areas were cited as reasons for the improvement.
According to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), a survey conducted between October 11 and 30, 2023, covering 2,420 households from all Yemeni governorates, showed an improvement in the food security level of households in Yemen during October 2023 compared to the previous month.
This comes after OCHA had previously indicated a slight worsening of food insecurity in its September update.
