  • Extensive Efforts by HUMAN ACCESS to Empower Women and Protect their Rights in Shabwah and Marib

As part of its efforts to empower Yemeni women and protect their rights, HUMAN ACCESS, with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), implemented a series of important activities and programs in the governorates of Shabwah and Marib.

Qualitative Initiatives in Shabwah:

The Safe Space for Women and Girls in Ataq city held an important meeting for the work team to discuss ways to develop services provided to the most vulnerable women and girls. A community awareness session was also held, focusing on the negative psychological effects of discrimination against children, stressing the importance of investing in them to build a better future.

Training and Awareness Programs in Marib:

Marib Governorate witnessed a series of qualitative programs and activities, as focus group discussions were held in Al Rawdha area and Al Meel camps, targeting 23 women. These discussions focused on the importance of career selection in line with labor market requirements, with the aim of economically empowering them and enhancing the success opportunities of their own projects.

A field visit to Al-Jufaina area was also organized to assess the women’s needs for vocational training, in addition to providing group psychological support to help them cope with psychological pressures and alleviate the severity of psychological disorders that have worsened due to the ongoing conflict.

The Safe Space organized three awareness sessions targeting women in various parts of the governorate, addressing important topics such as the harms of child marriage, the importance of utilizing skills, and improving livelihoods.

In Al-Matar area, a focus group discussion was held on the importance of career selection to ensure a livelihood, with the participation of 18 women. Two mental health support sessions were also held, addressing the topics of psychological stagnation and self-confidence.

In addition, eight awareness sessions were conducted, covering important topics such as happy marriage, the role of women in society, combating poverty, proper social upbringing of children, and domestic violence.

These efforts by HUMAN ACCESS emphasize the importance of empowering Yemeni women and protecting their rights, especially in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through.
