Under the supervision of Al-Salam Society and with the support of Al-Noor Charitable Association, the long-awaited opening of the “City of Peace for Widows and Orphans” took place in the southwestern Yemen city of Taiz. This achievement comes four years after the foundation stone was laid, and it has been made possible through generous funding from the State of Kuwait.
The recently inaugurated residential city comprises 20 buildings and features a total of 120 apartments, along with various essential amenities like a school, health center, mosque, shops, automated bakery, craft center, and sewing workshop. Additionally, multiple other facilities have been designated to cater specifically to the widows and orphans residing in the governorate. Mahmoud Al-Siddiq, the head of Al-Noor Association, emphasized that this pioneering “City of Peace” initiative is the first of its kind in Taiz and the surrounding areas of Yemen. He further expressed the association’s commitment to manage and enhance the project continuously. Essential services within the city will be offered free of charge to support the wellbeing of the beneficiary orphans.
