The Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, discussed on Tuesday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg, a number of humanitarian and developmental files related to Taiz Governorate.

The discussions dealt with the developments in the file of opening main roads, providing the city with water, alleviating human suffering, in addition to the efforts of the United Nations in supporting sustainable development in the governorate.

Governor Shamsan confirmed the strenuous efforts made by the local authority in coordination with the military and security authorities to open the main roads, especially the al-Hoban – al-Camp – al-Khair Mosque road. The importance of removing obstacles and facilitating the arrival of citizens to the city was emphasized, with attention to re-pumping water and reaching the garbage dump to alleviate the damage and human suffering resulting from the siege and water cut-off.

Governor Shamsan stressed the keenness of the local authority on the safety of citizens, and taking all arrangements and measures that ensure their easy arrival without hardship. Indicating that the sustainability of opening roads under the supervision of the United Nations is at the top of the priorities of the local authority.
