Yemenia Airways resumed its Aden-Kuwait-Aden route, on Saturday, through Aden International Airport, after a hiatus of more than nine years as a result of the war sparked by the terrorist Houthi militia.

Following the inauguration, Minister of Transport Dr. Abdulsalam Humaid congratulated the leadership of Yemenia Airways, its employees, and the employees of the Ministry of Transport on achieving successive successes in expanding the company’s activities. He stressed the ministry’s keenness to strengthen the role of Yemenia Airways as a national carrier and to support it with decisions and directives from the government and the ministry to enable it to protect its resources and assets and strengthen its air fleet.

Minister Humaid pointed out the great efforts being made by the ministry, in coordination with the company’s leadership, with the aviation authorities in the region to restore flights to the airports that the company was operating in before the war ignited by the Houthi militia.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemenia Airways, Captain Nasser Mahmoud, pointed to the importance of inaugurating this important route, which provides comfort and facilitation for expatriates by making it easy to travel and meet their families and relatives on a direct Aden-Kuwait-Aden route, and enabling them to travel at any time during the year according to work conditions through the direct air bridge with the national carrier. He praised the stances of the sisterly State of Kuwait, which facilitated obtaining the operating approval, explaining that the company is preparing to inaugurate the Doha and Dubai routes in the near future and translate its future plans into opening routes across Africa.

Yemeni Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Ali Mansour bin Safa’a praised the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Yemenia Airways, and the Civil Aviation Authority, appreciating the cooperation and support provided by the working team in facilitating this historic trip.

In turn, both Director of the Gulf and Far East Region, Haitham Al-Radfani, and Director of the Kuwait Region for Yemenia Airways, Nasser Al-Alwani, explained that the inauguration of this flight is a major achievement for Yemenia Airways and a step towards rebuilding trust in the national carrier.
