The Yemeni film “The Burdened,” directed by Amr Gamal and starring Abeer Mohammed and Khaled Hamdan, won the Grand Prize at the 5th edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival, surpassing 12 other Arab films.

Furthermore, the film “The Pail,” directed by Adel Al-Himi, won the award for Best Short Film Director, out of 16 films, adding another achievement for Yemen in this Arab film festival.

The Yemeni ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, Azzedine Al-Asbahi, received the awards on behalf of the winners, stressing that this achievement is a source of pride for all Yemenis, especially in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through due to the war.

The ambassador pointed out the positive role of cinema in promoting the values of peace, coexistence, and acceptance of the other, highlighting that cinema is a part of the collective memory of the nation.
