Yemeni Foreign Minister Shay’e Al-Zindani signed, on Sunday, in the Qatari capital Doha, with the Acting Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund, Sultan Al-Asseri, a memorandum of understanding to support economic empowerment and address unemployment among young people in Yemen.
This initiative comes as a decisive step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions that Yemen is going through. The memorandum seeks to achieve a number of strategic goals.
The memorandum of understanding aims to support the projects called “Your Future” and “Support for Youth Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion”, which provide job opportunities for more than 98,385 young men and women through the Qatari Foundation “Silatek” in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
The Yemeni Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the Qatari government’s support, praising Qatar’s development, humanitarian and relief interventions in various fields.
For his part, the Acting Director-General of the Qatar Development Fund explained that the signing of the memorandum of understanding will contribute to building the capacities of young Yemeni entrepreneurs in organizing their small projects and supporting young people in achieving sustainable development and eradicating poverty.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Yemeni Ambassador to Qatar, Rajih Badi, the Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office, Ambassador Abdul Qader Hadi, and the official in charge of the Al Jazeera and Gulf file in the Foreign Minister’s Office, Counselor Alaa Afara
