The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has launched a rapid response mechanism to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected by floods in four Yemeni governorates, as part of its efforts to alleviate the suffering of thousands of affected families.

The rapid response mechanism has been able to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to more than 22,365 people affected in the governorates of Hodeidah, Hajjah, Raymah, and Al-Mahwit, in cooperation with the European Union and the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund.

These efforts confirm the international community’s unwavering commitment to providing the necessary support to those affected and impacted by natural disasters around the world, especially in Yemen.

Initial reports issued by the United Nations indicated that at least 10,000 families have been affected since last Tuesday, as a result of torrential rains that swept through several Yemeni areas, causing massive damage to homes, farms, and infrastructure.
