The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), has concluded a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the economic prospects of Yemen’s youth. The project, valued at US$4 million, provided vocational and business skills training to over 1,500 young Yemeni men and women from May 2023 to October 2024.
This initiative spanned 24 districts across nine governorates, including Abyan, Aden, Al Dhale, Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Lahj, Marib, Shabwah, and Taiz, focusing on empowering rural youth. Remarkably, more than 58% of the trainees were women, highlighting the project’s commitment to gender equality.
The training was designed to meet the demands of local markets, thereby not only equipping the participants with necessary skills but also aiding in local economic recovery. By targeting young individuals, who constitute nearly 30% of Yemen’s population, the program aimed to foster sustainable employment opportunities and stimulate local economies.
