The Turkish Red Crescent concluded yesterday, Tuesday, a charitable project to support fishermen in 4 Yemeni governorates, which involved distributing fishing equipment to 300 beneficiaries.
This was announced during the closing event of the charity project held on the coast of Abyan in Aden Governorate, southern Yemen, in the presence of several Yemeni officials and representatives from the Turkish Red Crescent.
On the sidelines of the event, the head of the Turkish Red Crescent mission in Yemen, Ebrahim Obaid, told Anadolu Agency, “The association concluded today a project to support fishermen in Yemen, which included distributing fishing Equipment to 300 beneficiaries across 4 governorates.”
He added that those fishing Equipment “were distributed to 140 beneficiaries in Hadramout Governorate (southeast), 60 in Aden Governorate (south), 50 in Shabwa Governorate (southeast), and 50 in Lahij Governorate (south).”
He explained that the sets of distributed fishing Equipment include fishing nets and their accessories, and special boxes for fish preservation, noting that “the Equipment provided are of high quality, ensuring their longevity for many years.”
Obaid pointed out that this project “comes within the framework of the Turkish Red Crescent’s efforts to assist Yemeni fishermen amidst the rising prices of fishing equipment.”
He continued that this project also represents “a continuation of the various humanitarian aid that Turkey provides to the poorest families, and to the displaced and those affected by the war in Yemen, which erupted more than 10 years ago.”
