With the worsening electricity outage crisis in Yemen, solar energy is emerging as a promising solution to provide a sustainable and reliable energy source. In the Al-Shamayatayn district of Taiz Governorate, the Small and Micro Enterprise Promotion Service (SMEPS), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), implemented a qualitative initiative that contributes to spreading this technology and supporting local capabilities.

A specialized training course was organized in the field of solar energy systems maintenance, targeting 60 young men and women from the region. This program, which comes within the framework of the vocational training and business skills support project, aims to empower youth and provide them with the necessary technical expertise to manage and maintain these systems efficiently. This contributes to achieving environmental sustainability and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, as well as creating new job opportunities in a promising and in-demand field.
