With the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and through Vision Hope International (VHI), the thematic workshops of Building Foundation for Development (BFD) continue to study and evaluate peace and social cohesion projects in Al-Musaimeer District of Lahj governorate.
These episodes came as part of a project to improve livelihoods and strengthen the resilience of the poorest communities in eight districts in eight Yemeni governorates. It came out with several goals, including defining peacebuilding activities and interventions and enhancing societal cohesion, presenting the activities implemented in various development and service sectors, discussing solutions and prioritizing areas, according to a matrix agreed upon by the participants in the seminars.
It also aimed to carry out a number of service projects in the field of sustainable energy supply, agriculture, income, and reconstruction aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion in Al-Musaimer District.
These projects resolve local conflicts. It also adopts building the capacities of participants in resolving conflicts, promoting peace and social cohesion, mediation and negotiation, and strengthening communication between local authorities, civil society and local leaders, in a way that enhances societal resilience.
The workshop included members of the Integrated Development Committee in Al-Musaimeer District, members of the committee representing the local authority, and heads of community development committees.
