Source: HUMAN ACCESS

An internal visiting physician camp for early detection of breast and cervical cancer was organized by HUMAN ACCESS with funding from Human Appeal organization and with cooperation from the National Cancer Control Foundation in Aden governorate to raise awareness about the disease and combat it among women.

The two-day medical camp at Al-Basateen Charitable Medical Center targeted 96 women and educated them on the signs and symptoms of breast and cervical cancer and ways to prevent them.

For 39 targeted women who had some symptoms, medical examinations were conducted and 12 cases required medical intervention were discovered.

During the month of October, “Pink October,” an international awareness campaign is held to raise awareness of breast cancer, which is among the leading cancers affecting women. The purpose is to promote awareness and to encourage prevention of this disease, since prevention programs and awareness activities are integral to reducing it.

HUMAN ACCESS manages Al-Basateen Charitable Medical Center in Dar Saad district in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as part of the refugee health program that serves refugees in Al-Basateen and Kharaz areas of Aden and Lahj governorates, where a variety of basic services are provided to the most vulnerable groups.
