Marib, Yemen – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre launched an urgent relief operation on Monday to assist those affected by the recent floods and storms that hit Marib Governorate. The aid included the distribution of 400 tents and 430 shelter kits, in addition to food aid targeting 1,842 affected families. The final batch of periodic food assistance was also distributed to 6,207 beneficiary families as part of the life-saving food aid project.
This aid comes in the wake of heavy rains and storms that struck the governorate, resulting in the deaths of 4 people and injuring 10 others, including women and children. According to initial statistics issued by the Executive Unit for the Management of IDP Camps, 7,179 displaced families were affected, with 2,973 shelters completely destroyed and 4,206 partially damaged in several camps.
Emergency teams are working continuously to repair the extensive damage to numerous service sectors, particularly the electricity sector, as efforts to restore power continue in the affected neighborhoods and camps.
