  • KSrelief and SDRPY Launch Volunteer Medical Program at Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Hospital in Aden

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

A significant volunteer medical program was launched at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden Governorate, a collaborative effort between the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). This initiative, set to run from April to July, aims to provide a wide range of medical services across various specialties, catering to the humanitarian needs of individuals from all Yemeni governorates.

The program includes critical medical projects such as open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and plastic surgery for post-burn deformities, alongside specialized medical clinics. This program is part of SDRPY’s 34 development projects in various Yemeni governorates.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital has become a beacon of hope and healing, thanks to its comprehensive facilities and the support of the SDRPY. Spanning 20,000 square meters with a 270-bed capacity, the hospital is well-equipped with 2,187 pieces of medical devices and equipment. From January 2023 to April 2024, the hospital successfully conducted over 6,695 surgical operations and 2,682 cardiac catheterization procedures. Additionally, it has accommodated 1,145,578 medical visits, including 387,703 outpatient visits. The hospital and cardiac care center have served 58,634 inpatients and issued 302,784 prescriptions during this period.

This volunteer medical program is a testament to the strategic partnership between KSrelief and SDRPY. It underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to utilizing government resources for humanitarian aid and relief efforts in Yemen. Through this initiative, both entities aim to enhance their collaboration through joint relief, humanitarian, volunteer, and development projects in Yemen.

The SDRPY’s involvement extends beyond healthcare; it has initiated 229 development projects and initiatives across eight critical sectors such as education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture, fisheries, and capacity building. These efforts are designed to support the Yemeni government and developmental programs, showcasing a broad spectrum of support for Yemen’s reconstruction and development.
