In partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has initiated training and empowerment courses in the districts of Mukalla and Seiyun. This initiative is part of the Education Catch-up Project aimed at addressing the issue of girls dropping out of school in Yemen.
The courses provided training in sewing, embroidery, and food preparation, including pastries. Professional and vocational support was extended to mothers caring for orphaned girls, equipping them with kits and tools relevant to their respective trades.
The project’s objectives encompass the provision of essential equipment for 21 schools, implementation of training programs to enhance the skills of 350 teachers and supervisors, establishment of 64 alternative classrooms to cater to girls in displacement camps, empowerment of 280 female household providers and guardians, and the execution of 14 awareness campaigns to promote girls’ education in Yemen.
Dr. Salem Salah Bajaber, Director of the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training Office in the Coastal Region of Hadhramout, emphasized the significance of such projects in generating employment opportunities for female providers through comprehensive and systematic training.
