Marib Governorate witnessed the inauguration of a new elementary and secondary school for girls in Al-Matar neighborhood, east of the city, on Sunday. The school was generously funded by the State of Kuwait. This school, constructed at a cost of 330 thousand US dollars, is part of the “Kuwait by Your Side” campaign aimed at supporting the Yemeni people.
The new school is distinguished by its spacious area of 4,500 square meters and includes two floors with 14 classrooms equipped with the latest educational means, in addition to integrated administrative and service facilities.
Attendees praised the significant humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in supporting vital sectors in Yemen, especially the education sector, which represents the cornerstone of building a bright future for future generations.
The concerned authorities confirmed that the school will open its doors to thousands of girls from the host community and displaced families, which will contribute to empowering them to continue their educational journey.
On another note, work is underway to add a new floor to the school building to increase its capacity, in response to the high demand from female students in the area.
In a related context, the Back-to-School campaign was launched in the Al-Suwaida camp for displaced people, northwest of Marib city. This campaign includes the distribution of 75 temporary classrooms made of tents, 5,849 school bags, and 202 educational and recreational kits, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
