At the beginning of February, Building Foundation for Development implemented a number of water projects in Tarim district, Hadhramout, under the supervision of the General Authority for Rural Water, which were funded by the Government of Japan through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The projects include the water project in “La’ous” area in “Al-Radoud” and its environs, as well as its rehabilitation by constructing a 6-inch feeding line with a length of 1.8 km. In addition, they include a water project for “Mashata” area and its environs. Besides, a feeding line with a diameter of 6 inches and a length of 2 km will be implemented, following its rehabilitation. Another feeding line will be implemented with a diameter of 3 inches and a length of 700 meters, in addition to a feeding line with a diameter of 2 inches and a length of 300 meters. The projects also include the installation of a solar energy system with a capacity of 48,000 watts, and the implementation of a pumping line with a diameter of 4 inches and a length of 600 meters, from the well to the reservoir in “Al-Qurayyah” area and its environs. They also include a solar energy system project to operate “Aideed” well (Hasat Al-Maqateel) with a capacity of 59 thousand watts.
Due to the ongoing conflict and the difficult circumstances the country is going through, the intervention of the UNDP and the support provided by the Government of Japan to the Yemeni people in the water sector are necessary.
