In an important step towards enhancing the safety of fishermen and providing a safe work environment, the Small and Micro Enterprise Promotion Service (SMEPS) distributed 700 kits containing occupational health and safety tools to fishermen in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahra.

This initiative comes within the framework of the Sustainable Fisheries Development Project in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (SFISH), implemented by SMEPS with funding from the World Bank and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The distribution events were attended by representatives from local authorities, coast guard forces, and the fisheries authority. Each kit contains a set of essential tools that help fishermen respond to maritime accidents and provide first aid until they reach the shore, contributing to preserving their lives and ensuring the continuity of their livelihoods.
