Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s (KSrelief) Masam Project, dedicated to clearing mines in Yemen, dismantled 797 mines in various regions of Yemen in the fourth week of April 2024. These include one anti-personnel mine, 110 anti-tank mines, 681 unexploded ordnance, and 5 explosive devices.

The project’s demining teams have cleared 163 unexploded ordnances in Aden Governorate and 12 anti-tank mines, 27 unexploded ordnances, and 5 explosive devices in Aden District. In Hajar District, Al-Dhalea Governorate, one anti-personnel mine and 7 unexploded ordnances were removed. In Hodeidah Governorate, 5 anti-tank mines and 57 unexploded ordnances were removed in Al-Khawkhah District, and 3 anti-tank mines and 8 unexploded ordnances were removed in Hays District. In Ma’rib Governorate, one anti-tank mine was removed in Al-Wadi District, and 70 anti-tank mines and 200 unexploded ordnances were removed in Ma’rib District. The team also removed 21 unexploded ordnances in Taban District, Lahj Governorate.

Additionally, in Shabwa Governorate, 3 anti-tank mines and one unexploded ordnance in Ain District, along with 3 anti-tank mines in Usaylan District, were removed. In Taiz Governorate, the team removed one anti-tank mine and 157 unexploded ordnances in Al-Mukha District, 6 anti-tank mines and 6 unexploded ordnances in Dhubab District, and 5 anti-tank mines and 33 unexploded ordnances in Al-Mandab District.

The total number of mines cleared in April has risen to 2,037, and the total number of mines removed since the project’s inception has now reached 438,413.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, is committed to clearing Yemeni lands of all mines that have tragically resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to innocent children, women, and the elderly.
