The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in a press statement, reported that it has provided educational support to approximately 827,000 children in Yemen. This assistance was made possible through a contribution of $6.2 million, provided in partnership with King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Center (KSrelief).
The UNICEF stated that its educational support program aims to ensure access to formal and non-formal education opportunities for vulnerable girls and boys.
The statement highlighted that the organization reached nearly 4.9 million individuals, including caregivers, through the implementation of five awareness campaigns. Additionally, they engaged approximately 26,000 community mobilizers, members, and leaders, as well as 2,500 families through outreach activities.
It is worth mentioning that the educational support program helped over 527,000 children attend the national final exams for the academic year 2022-2023. Furthermore, it provided 300,000 others with school bags and recreational supplies to motivate and encourage their return to school.
Peter Hawkins, the UNICEF Representative in Yemen, praised the importance of the contribution from KSrelief in addressing the educational needs of vulnerable girls and boys in Yemen.
