The National Women’s Committee conducted its second training workshop on enhancing women’s capabilities in integrating the principles of human security into women’s activities, peace, and security in the province of Aden, in partnership with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Yemen. This training is part of an initiative to strengthen women’s capacities in integrating the principles of human security into women’s activities, peace, and security.
The project includes the training and qualification of 100 women, enhancing their knowledge and capabilities in the fields of security and peace, which will have a positive impact on their future, social presence, and decision-making at all levels.
Dr. Shafika Saeed, the Chairwoman of the National Women’s Committee, stated in her opening remarks at the workshop, “The National Women’s Committee has been keen on addressing decision-makers about the necessity of involving women in negotiations and their role in peacebuilding.” She added, “The National Women’s Committee seeks to train women on the negotiation process and peacebuilding to achieve a balance in women’s qualification and their participation in the peacebuilding process.” Dr. Saeed expressed her gratitude to Ms. Dina Zorba, the representative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Yemen, for her commitment to partnering with the national mechanism concerned with women’s issues in Yemen.
In a speech delivered by Widad Al-Badawi, the representative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Yemen, Ms. Dina Zorba emphasized the importance of training women from various entities, departments, parties, political components, and civil society to enable their effective and influential participation in the political process and peacebuilding.
It is worth mentioning that the National Women’s Committee seeks to build capacities for women in the negotiation and peacebuilding process, in line with calls for negotiations and peacebuilding to end the nine-year-long war in Yemen.
