Funded by UAE, the inaugural solar panel power station has been successfully erected in Mocha, a picturesque Yemeni city situated along the scenic Red Sea coastline within the Taiz Governorate.
Occupying an expansive 500 m2 plot, the power station showcases an impressive capacity to generate 20 megawatts of sustainable energy. The construction involved substantial earthwork activities, encompassing approximately 300 m3 of soil excavation, along with the installation of 6,000 sturdy cement bases. Notably, the iron structure, boasting a weight of 750 tons, adds to the station’s robustness. To optimize energy capture, an estimated 30,000 solar panels have been skillfully integrated into the design, with each panel offering an impressive capacity of 700 watts.
Providing insights into the endeavor, Mohammed Hosam, the esteemed project manager overseeing the Mocha solar power station, expressed confidence in the project’s progress, asserting that the completion is imminent and optimistically set for the end of this month. He further elaborated that the production process will unfold in multiple stages, with an initial output of 5 megawatts already achieved in the project’s first phase.
