The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has announced its support for a new humanitarian aid program aimed at assisting women and children affected by the conflict in Yemen. With a total value of $205 million, the program aims to address the urgent needs of the vulnerable population. Taking to Twitter, the FCDO elaborated, stating that the program, equivalent to 160 million pounds sterling, will focus on providing essential services such as primary healthcare, including nutrition, access to clean water and sanitation, and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly voiced his support for the initiative, saying, “The ongoing conflict in Yemen continues to inflict immense pain and suffering on millions of ordinary Yemenis. Unfortunately, women and children bear the brunt of this crisis.”
Cleverly emphasized the UK’s unwavering commitment to addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen. He added, “This new program dedicated to women and children in Yemen will play a crucial role in providing vital assistance to those who need it the most.”
