Last Sunday, an introductory workshop was held in Al-Mukalla city for a project aimed to enroll Yemeni girls who have dropped out of school. It was funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, and implemented by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “ICESCO” in cooperation with the Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

At the beginning of the workshop, Ms. Iman Al-Zubairi, the project’s manager, reviewed the general idea of the project, the objectives it seeks to achieve, and the mechanism for coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the project’s success.

The project’s goal is to support girls who live in poverty and reduce the number of girls who drop out of schools. This is by providing equipment for about 21 girls’ schools, in addition to providing alternative classrooms in the governorates of Hadhramout, Ma’rib, Socotra, Abyan, Lahj, Al-Dhalea, Hajjah, as well as distributing school bags for 19,000 girls. The project also aimed to developing programs for workers in the field of girls’ education and implementing awareness campaigns to support girls’ education.
