The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) continues to fund activities and events as part of the Protection and Livelihood Support Project “the Safe Space for Women and Girls (SSWG)”, implemented by HUMAN ACCESS, in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Marib.

In late September, a training course on mobile maintenance training for 5 women trainees was launched in Seiyun. The project aimed to provide women and girls with new skills that enable them to enter the labor market and improve their economic and living conditions.

The SSWG in Seiyun also conducted community awareness-raising sessions on gender-based violence and its effects on women’s stability in society, and the need to combat and reduce it.

In Mukalla, the Protection and Livelihood Support Project implemented social, psychological and health awareness sessions for ninth-grade female students at Al-Ma’aref school. It discussed a number of issues that concern girls at this age, in addition to mental, kinesthetic, and interactive activities.

Under the Economic Empowerment Programme for Women and Girls, implemented by HUMAN ACCESS, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the team of SSWG in Al-Wadi District in Marib Governorate, carried out a life and marketing skills course for women and girls, aiming at raising awareness of women trainees and equipping them with the skills they need to market their products.

In the same district, a course on the confectionery and pastry-making was concluded. In a mini bazaar, the trainees of women and girls displayed their products, demonstrating their skills and abilities after 10 days of training.

In a similar context, the SSWG, in Al-Rawdah area and Al-Mail Camps, Marib Governorate, concluded vocational training and economic empowerment livelihood programmes”, as part of the plan for the 2022 third quarter.

These Programmes target 13 female trainees, with a view to equipping them with new skills and handicrafts that will help them to support their families, given the collapse in economic conditions and livelihoods resulting from the ongoing conflict in the country. The training programmes include confectionery and pastry-making.

The SSWG, in the airport area in Marib, conducted a community awareness session entitled “The Causes of Divorce and Its Effects on Society”, a health awareness session on the importance of vaccinating children and women, and a psychological support session entitled “Fear”.
