Through the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project and through the Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF), local authorities were able to rehabilitate the 22 May School in Mawiya district in Taiz governorate.

The project included the renovation of 3 classrooms, with teacher’s residence, administration and storage, completing the construction of 3 other classrooms, and providing all the basic needs of the school: Benches and furniture, water harvesting tank, toilets, and solar power.

Now 500 boys and girls can access their right to education in a safe and comfortable environment.
