The Kuwaiti Direct Relief Association concluded on Monday a medical camp where 500 surgeries for cataract removal and lens implantation were performed in several districts of Hadhramaut Governorate in eastern Yemen as part of the “Kuwait by Your Side” campaign.

The regional director of Direct Relief in Yemen, Ali Bateat, explained in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the camp named ” Eve of Ramadan 29th, 1445 Campaign,” which was held at the (Ruya) Hospital for Eye Medicine and Surgery, resulted in 500 surgical operations for cataract removal and lens implantation.

He added that the project included examining more than 4200 cases, providing treatment and free glasses to about 1500 beneficiaries, in addition to distributing awareness brochures about eye diseases and cholera, which is widespread in several Yemeni governorates.
