Ibb Governorate, Yemen – The local authority in Ibb Governorate has initiated a crucial project aimed at providing drinking water to 32,510 residents in the Al-Dhahar district.
The project involves the construction of a 1,000 cubic meter concrete water tank, the installation of a liquefaction line, and a distribution network spanning 3,500 meters. This initiative has been prioritized by the local authority to address the ongoing water crisis in Ibb, which is Yemen’s third most populous governorate and faces significant challenges in water service availability, exacerbated by rapid population growth and the influx of displaced individuals from other regions affected by conflict.
This vital project has garnered substantial support from the European Union as part of the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) initiative, which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Tamdeen Youth Foundation (TYF).
