Shabwa and Marib Governorates, Yemen – In a significant effort to promote women’s rights and well-being in Yemen, HUMAN ACCESS has launched a series of activities aimed at supporting pregnant women and victims of gender-based violence (GBV). This initiative is part of the “Safe Space for Women and Girls” project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).

In Shabwa, at the safe space located in Ataq city, two awareness sessions were conducted for local women and girls. The first session focused on problem-solving skills, aimed at building resilience amidst growing challenges. The second session addressed the risks of early marriage, educating attendees about its harmful effects on young girls, families, and communities.

Meanwhile, in Marib’s Al-Matar area, 18 bags were distributed to victims of gender-based violence, alongside community awareness initiatives emphasizing the importance of skill development for women’s career success. Participants also engaged in two awareness sessions; the first covered problem-solving skills, and the second examined the devastating impacts of divorce, particularly on children.

Additionally, 20 pregnant women in Al-Jufaina received essential women’s bags containing personal hygiene products and other necessary items, complemented by psychological support to promote mental health during pregnancy. The safe space also hosted two awareness sessions for 30 women, focusing on the social role of women and the introduction of a complaints and suggestions box, alongside a group psychological support session titled “Mental Health and its Links to Achievement.”

These initiatives by HUMAN ACCESS highlight a commitment to improving the status of women in Yemen, providing both practical resources and critical education to empower individuals and communities.
