The project “Enhancing Inclusive Access to Justice in Yemen – Community Legal Empowerment,” funded by the Dutch government and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with AFAQ Youth Foundation, concluded in Aden on Thursday.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Courts and Documentation Sector – Head of the Joint Technical Committee for Legal Empowerment, Judge Abdulkarim Ba’abad, confirmed the achievement of several milestones during the eight-month project. This included training 200 individuals in eight groups, focusing on human rights and restorative justice. Additionally, 100 individuals received training to serve as paralegals, providing legal aid, particularly to marginalized groups.

For his part, the representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Won Hyuk Im, emphasized the project’s significance in addressing numerous challenges faced by citizens, facilitating legal services, and supporting the efforts of the judiciary. He highlighted the continued implementation of related projects aimed at alleviating the suffering of people, particularly in the area of enhancing inclusive access to justice in Yemen “PIAJY” – Community Legal Empowerment.
