Hadramout, Yemen – In a significant step towards bolstering the presence of Yemeni honey in international markets, a workshop on “Quality Systems and Certifications in the Honey Sector” was held in Hadramout Governorate.

The workshop saw wide participation from over 40 representatives of honey production and marketing associations and establishments from various districts of Wadi and Hadramout desert. The event was organized as part of the “Enhancing Market Access” (MARKETSYemen) project.

Funded by the Saudi Development Fund and the Islamic Development Bank, and implemented by the Small and Micro Enterprise Promotion Service (SMEPS), the project aims to familiarize participants with international quality certifications in the honey sector and the requirements for obtaining them. This initiative will contribute to elevating the quality of Yemeni honey and strengthening its competitiveness in regional and global markets.

The workshop represents a vital step towards achieving a qualitative leap in the Yemeni honey production sector and enabling it to attain a distinguished position in global markets.
