Shabwa, Yemen – Local authorities in Shabwa Governorate, southern Yemen, inaugurated a new fish landing center in the city of Bir Ali, located on the Arabian Sea coast. The project was funded by the United Nations.

The project’s total cost reached approximately US$400,000, funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hamid Al-Karbi, emphasized that this strategic project represents an important contribution to the infrastructure for fishermen in Shabwa Governorate, which is characterized by the diversity and quality of its fish species. He added that the center will significantly contribute to raising the level of fish production and the economic return for those working in the sector in the governorate.
