The Local Corporation for Water Supply and Sanitation in Aden Governorate handed over the site of the Water Security Enhancement Project using Renewable Energy to the implementing entity, Ahmed Al Sulaimani Company.
The project, which comes with a bilateral contribution from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen (SDRPY) and the Selah Foundation for Development, includes drilling 10 replacement wells with depths of 350 meters, supplying and installing a solar power plant with a production capacity of 600 kilowatts to operate the new wells, constructing a facility for field workers, connecting the wells to the water and electricity network within the field, in addition to training and capacity building for workers.
The Director General of the Local Corporation for Water Supply and Sanitation in Aden, Engineer Mohammed Bakhabera, stressed the importance of the project in enhancing the provision of water services to citizens in Aden Governorate, within the framework of efforts made to improve the level of basic services provided to citizens and provide clean drinking water to more than one and a half million beneficiaries. He also praised the efforts of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the Selah Foundation for Development and their continuous support for water projects in the governorate.
