The specialized Eye Hospital in Marib, affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), provided 43,682 medical treatment services to eye patients, including displaced individuals, host community members, African refugees, and visitors from other Yemeni governorates, over a period of 3 months. Outpatient clinics received 10,766 cases.
Statistics released by the hospital for the fourth quarter of the fourth phase of its operation (August-October 2024) indicated that 1,488 free diverse surgical operations were performed for eye patients to restore their sight. 19,119 units of free medication were provided, in addition to 6,537 medical and sunglasses.
The statistics also indicated that the laboratory provided 3,252 free laboratory examination services to eye patients, while 2,520 patients benefited from other diagnostic equipment services.
The hospital’s director, Ahmed Al-Amri, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the hospital has been providing all of its services free of charge since its establishment, starting from registration and examination in outpatient clinics up to performing surgeries, dispensing medications, and providing medical and sunglasses, all funded entirely by KSrelief. This aims to contribute to combating blindness and reducing the rate of visual impairments.
