As part of the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Spaces and Girls”, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) continues to implement various activities in Ma’rib governorate. The activities aim to promote and protect women’s rights in Yemen and raise awareness about the extent of the problems they face.

In the Airport Area, the “Safe Space” held a team meeting to review the pros and cons of work over the past year. It also reviewed the Action Plan for this year, 2023, which includes a set of important interventions to support women and girls. The meeting urged the work team to make more efforts to improve performance.

In Al-Mail Camps and Al-Rawda Area, the “Safe Space” resumed its activities and programs as part of its continuous support for women’s rights. The activities witnessed a great turnout of women and girls wishing to benefit from the Safe Space’s services in order to enhance their capabilities, acquire the necessary skills, and realize all their potentials.

In Al Jufainah, the “Safe Space” also provided group psychological support to 12 women about the pressures of daily life, and the ways of coping and dealing with them. Two awareness sessions were also organized. The first was attended by 10 visitors, entitled “Women and their Human Rights”. The second was attended by 22 women, which dealt with the dangers of gender-based violence, and aimed to raise the beneficiaries’ awareness of the importance of their rights.
