In mid-May 2022, UN women organized a closing conference to discuss the outcomes of ” Protecting and Empowering Women and Girls affected by Gender-Based Violence in Yemen Project”, which was implemented in the governorates of Aden and Taiz during the period from April 2021 to May 2022.
The conference, which was held virtually on ZOOM, with the participation of some organizations, interested parties, and partners, demonstrated all stages of the project work, training courses, and things accomplished to ensure knowledge-based sustainability in the fields of protection and economic empowerment in conflict areas.
This project, supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in partnership with local and regional organizations, has benefited more than 7,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries from the governorates of Taiz and Aden.
Dina Zorba, UN Women Representative to Iraq and Yemen, confirmed that over the past years, UN Women has worked to support women’s rights in various fields and sectors through extended partnerships with civil society and international organizations and UN bodies in various fields, and to consolidate the inherent human rights of women, in line with international conventions, treaties and resolutions.
